It's hot

And that makes sense, since we're nearing the end of August. The tomatoes are enjoying the heat and ripening fast. We ate a couple on Friday with mozzarella and basil (Caprese salad). Yum!

I'm seeing more and more "end of summer" sights out there.

We took Tasha back to the vet on Friday when we discovered she had pulled half her stitches out. Bad dog! She got a few staples in their place (ouch!) and now has to wear the "cone of shame." She doesn't like that one bit, but she's getting used to it. We take it off so she can eat and when she needs to go outside, supervised, of course.

  1. Difficult area to discourage a dog from licking. The cone of shame is awful and must be uncomfortable to wear even more so in hot weather. Poor Tasha, but please she is not a bad dog!

  2. Oh, poor Tasha - the cone of shame is such a nuisance. When one of our Labs had to wear one to protect an eye op. he'd had, he used it to great effect as a battering ram. Nothing was immune, the doors and walls never really recovered, and it took ages for our shin scars to heal !

  6. Ooooow, poor Tasha! Horridf things, those cones. There are more comfortable ones nowadays, butI don't think many people will buy them for a one-off op. I'm not sure if they deserve the name 'comfy', but if they'd been around I would have bought it when one of our dogs had to wear one for weeks on end.:(( https://www.junai.nl/hondenkraag-the-comfy-cone-xs-s-m-l-xl.html?id=85171760&quantity=1

BTW love your image of the week!

  8. Aww, poor girl. Years ago we had a German Shepherd / Lab cross who pulled stitches out. She was on the vets table while he was bloody telling us off for not keeping her quiet. He was next to her we were on the other side of the room. She jumped off the high vets table and did a lap of the room. Out came the new stitches. He apologised. Haha

  9. Love that shot. It looks truly exhausted after a long season. If I knew anything about baseball, I'd make some lame joke here.

  10. Read the last two posts in reverse. Wondered when the cone of shame had arrived. It's been hot and humid here. But heavy rains Tuesday are supposed to bring a significant drop in temps. Yes we have no tomatoes.
