More radical hedge trimming - A Pic a Day in May #5

This is the other section of the hedge that got cut down to size. This part separates us from the neighbor just to the east of us (the section in yesterday's photo is on the west end of our property). There is a fence between us and this neighbor. We had half the hedge cut down to the level of his fence. The other half, to the right of this picture, is still at the original height of about seven feet.

The much lower hedge on the east end of our yard.

Again, maintenance will be much easier with the lower hedge. And since there is rarely anybody in the yard next door, we're not really losing any privacy. I found a photo from a couple of years ago to remind you of how high this section of hedge was.

The same hedge, before cutting,  from a slightly different angle, but you can see how high it was by comparing it to the tree on the left side of the photo.

  1. Walt I'm excited for you, now it's won't be a back-breaking ordeal to trim the hedge anymore.

  2. What a relief to know you won't kill yourself trimming the monster this year. It sure is nice to see the lushness of spring in your backyard.

    1. mitch, there's still a monster part that needs trimming in the fall, but we'll hire the guys back to do that.

  4. So, it's going to fill out nicely, even at the shorter height?

  5. The section 'cut down to size' looks like a bunch of sticks.

    1. starman, that's pretty much what it is, for now. The leaves will come back, I hope!

  6. The other thing about Cinco de Mayo, I'm told, is that it's not much celebrated in Mexico, either. Apparently, it's one of those manufactured holidays. Maybe by the liquor lobby?

    1. emm, I'm not at all surprised. One day, President's Day will be an excuse partying and excessive drinking. Oh, wait... spring break.
