That's The Way The Ballon Bounces

Last night was the big night. France vs. Italy. We had reservations with friends for a moules/frites feast in front of a big screen tv in the central place in Montrichard. It was very nice, we had fun, the food was great. But. France. Lost. Oh well, they played well, and only lost in the very end (being tied with Italy for most of the game after two very early goals). Zidane delivered a serious head-butt right in the chest of an opponent when said opponent held him back during a play late in the match. Words were exchanged; they must've been "fightin' words," then bam! They threw him out of the game for it, but I bet he enjoyed it.

And now for something completely different.

Stainless steel items in a hardware store window in Selles-sur-Cher. They just caught my eye. Above, a tea kettle. Below, thermos bottles.

  1. I was so shocked by Zidane's head butt. What a sad way for him to end his career. But I'm sure he was provoked. And it sucks when a Cup is decided by PKs, but what can you do?

Our family watched the World Cup diligently. I still think the best team was Argentina. All the teams at the end were great, though--Portugal, Germany, Italy, and France. Any of them would have deserved the cup. Wish there was more legitimate competition for the European teams. With Brazil, they dominate every Cup.

  2. Yes, it was a hard thing to watch. You kind of understand, but you'd hope that such a prominent player would have more self control and be able to let insults pass.

Oh well. It proves that everyone's human, I suppose.

Best to you and the family!
